Cooley Dickinson Hospital nurses to hold informational picket

Cooley Dickinson Hospital's 216 nurses will hold an informational picket Sept. 30 outside the Northampton, Mass.-based hospital, according to a Boston Business Journal report.

The nurses, members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, aim to raise awareness of the ongoing contract negotiation with the hospital. The current contract, which expired in January, has been extended during the negotiations, according to the report.

Throughout negotiations, the union and the hospital have butted heads over unpaid overtime, as Cooley management wants to increase use of it, according to the report. Hospital officials told the Boston Business Journal those plans are coupled with additional staffing plans, wage increases and new bonuses.

During the picket, nurses will hand out flyers to people around the hospital while still reporting to work as usual.
