Front Line Healthcare Managers – New Expectations
Healthcare organizations are facing unprecedented challenges. Senior leaders need, at a minimum, managers who can actually manage, and need to provide them the tools to be effective. In many healthcare organizations the front line and mid-level managers are chosen with a traditional healthcare culture and management model in mind. This means that no matter how much effort you put into hiring patient-focused, engaged front line staff, you won’t achieve your goals. At the very least, we are seeing a realization that the traditional approach won’t work in the face of today’s challenges. The next step, however, is for healthcare organizations to commit the time and resources to a deliberate management level talent strategy. Without it, improved patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and bottom line organizational performance, will remain elusive.
