Palo Alto Medical Foundation Cleared for Construction After 10-Year Wait

Palo Alto (Calif.) Medical Foundation, part of Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health, announced it has been cleared to begin construction on a new medical campus in San Carlos, Calif.

PAMF began planning for the San Carlos Center 10 years ago and was approved for the project in 2007. However, from April 2007 to December 2011, Northgate Environmental Management conducted an environmental soils remediation project. On April 12, the California State Water Quality Control Board declared the cleanup was complete, allowing PAMF to start its construction project.

PAMF plans to develop the campus in two phases, beginning with an outpatient medical clinic and parking structure, which is expected to take roughly two years to build. The second phase includes an acute-care hospital, but construction has not yet been scheduled.
