S&P: Hospital Revenue Growth Rate From Payors at 7-Year Low
Hospital and healthcare revenue growth rates continue to trudge along at glacial rates, as the average per capita cost of healthcare services covered by commercial payors and Medicare increased only 5.06 percent, according to Standard & Poor's Healthcare Economic Indices (pdf) through September.
That total is a deceleration from the 5.7 percent annual growth rate recorded in August 2012. S&P's Hospital Index, in particular, hit its lowest annual rate since January 2005 at 3.84 percent.
