Nurses, Hospitals in Massachusetts Go to War Over Law Governing Staffing Levels

Nurses in Massachusetts are pushing legislation that would establish patient-to-nurse ratios, which they argue would help maintain patient and employee safety, according to a WWLP report.

Nurses and hospitals have been battling over such regulation, with the latter arguing healthcare organizations should not be subject to "one-size-fits-all ratios or limits," according to the report.

However, hospital officials have signaled a possible compromise in support of a bill that would make staffing decision more transparent. The state Senate passed a version of that bill last year, according to the report.
