Is your hospital relying too heavily on sporicidal disinfectant to fight C. diff?

Clostridium difficile holds a top spot on an infection preventionists’ "most wanted" list. Not only is it responsible for more than half a million patient infections annually, but C. diff infections are linked with nearly 30,000 deaths in the U.S. alone each year, according to the most recent CDC data. Unfortunately, many healthcare organizations may not be looking at all the variables when handling the C. diff menace.

Many facilities are quick to implement sporicidal disinfectants as a solution, some facility wide, yet they are not seeing their outcomes improve. While sporicidal disinfectants are proven effective, it's all too common for facilities to explore only a few of the factors which can lead to a heavy reliance on sporicidal disinfectant without properly addressing other risk factors that allow C. diff to proliferate. This webinar will explore the factors that should be explored in the quest to improve outcomes.

In a June 30 webinar hosted by Becker's Hospital Review, Jim Gauthier, senior clinical advisor of infection prevention for Sealed Air Diversey Care will go in-depth on factors that impact ongoing C. diff transmission. Mr. Gauthier will share a series of studies along with the SHEA/IDSA Practice Recommendation related to strategies for preventing C. diff infections in acute care settings to help you explore the best strategies for your facility.
