AHA Urges Better Alignment of Quality Measure Reporting, Payment Efforts

The American Hospital Association has written a letter to the National Quality Forum's Measure Applications Partnership urging better alignment of quality measurement reporting and payment efforts, according to an AHA News Now report.

MAP published a draft pre-rulemaking report on recommendations for HHS on approximately 500 quality measures, nearly 100 of which are planned for inclusion in hospital quality reporting programs.

AHA is calling for increased alignment between the quality reporting measures and payment programs. The AHA made several suggestions to accomplish this alignment, including "an integrated set of guidance to inform the selection of quality measures for all MAP workgroups," according to the AHA News Now report. In addition, AHA advised the MAP to provide more guidance to CMS and NQF to support MAP's efforts.
