8 West Virginia hospitals with top nurse communication scores

The following hospitals in West Virginia received top marks on patients' HCAHPS surveys for nurse communication.

At least 88 percent of patients at these eight hospitals responded on the surveys that nurses always communicated well. In West Virginia, the average is 80 percent, which mirrors the national average.

The figures are from CMS' Hospital Compare website and represent HCAHPS scores collected from July 2015 through June 2016, the most recent data available.

Note: Hospitals with fewer than 100 completed surveys were excluded from this list.

1. Welch Community Hospital — 87 percent

2. Grant Memorial Hospital (Petersburg) — 86 percent

3. Plateau Medical Center (Oak Hill) — 85 percent

4. Preston Memorial Hospital (Kingwood) — 84 percent

5. Monongalia County General Hospital (Morgantown) — 82 percen

6. Williamson Memorial Hospital — 82 percent

7. Jefferson Medical Center (Ranson) — 82 percent

8. Jackson General Hospital (Ripley) — 82 percent
