United Health Foundation forms 2 partnerships to fight drug addiction in Connecticut

Minnetonka, Minn.-based United Health Foundation will address increasing drug addiction concerns in Connecticut through two partnerships with Gov. Dannel Malloy's (D) office and the nonprofit organization The Village for Families & Children.

United Health Foundation donated $2.35 million in grants to The Governor's Prevention Partnership and The Village for Families & Children to help each partner increase local education, outreach and engagement among Connecticut teens and their families.

Each grant will help its respective organization fund separate three-year initiatives. The Governor's Prevention Partnership will use the funds to create an awareness and outreach program for children and parents and provide support services for high-risk youth. The Village for Families & Children will use the funds to address the physical and social aspects of each child's health and wellbeing through health screenings, increased parent education and early intervention to prevent serious medical and health issues.
