Summa Health launches self-scheduling program

Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health initiated a program for patients to self-schedule physician visits online, The Plain Dealer reports.

At summahealth.org/schedulenow, patients can see physicians' schedules and choose appointment timeslots based on availability. Details like provider qualifications and reviews are also available through the program. The program sends email and text reminders for approaching appointments.

Powered by online medical scheduling service Zocdoc in New York City, the initiative aims to eliminate long phone calls and allow for 24/7 scheduling.
