Retired nurse accused of killing husband at Florida hospital

A retired Florida nurse was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the May 19 hospital death of her husband, according to a report on CBSNews.com.

Authorities said 61-year-old Jan Sochalski of Palm Coast, Fla., suffocated her husband, 64-year-old Henry Sochalski, in his hospital bed as he was recovering from elective back surgery, according to the article. They said a nurse found Ms. Sochalski on top of her husband in his bed shortly before he died at Daytona Beach-based Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center.

Arrest documents also show Ms. Sochalski's husband was hooked up to a pain medication machine when she pressed the button 264 times in an eight hour period, according to the article, which cites information from CBS affiliate WKMG. It should have only been pressed six times an hour, authorities said.

Ms. Sochalski denies killing her husband.
