The American Nurses Association announced National Nurses Week May 6 to 12.
"Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care" is the theme of this year's National Nurses Week, which begins on National Nurses Day and ends on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, according to the news release.
HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stated in an HHS news release, "National Nurses Week gives us a chance to recognize the contribution of the healthcare providers at the heart of our healthcare system. Every day, nurses provide leadership, innovation and advocacy to meet the healthcare needs of Americans."
