Ohio woman accused of posing as nurse

Police in Perkins, Ohio, charged a woman who was allegedly working as a nurse and physical therapist without proper credentials, ABC affiliate WTVG reported Feb. 20.

Amanda Maynard-Murphy, 33, was charged with identity theft after being accused of using a physical therapy number of a different Amanda Maynard and the Social Security number of a North Carolina woman to pass background checks at multiple healthcare facilities. One of the locations cited in the arrest is NOMS Healthcare, a Sandusky, Ohio-based system.

Ms. Maynard-Murphy was not employed but was wearing scrubs at the time of the arrest, WTVG reported.

NOMS Healthcare is reaching out to its patients and is offering them a yearlong subscription to identify theft protection company LifeLock, according to the article.
