Minneapolis-based Medtronic, a medical device manufacture, has agreed to pay $362,362 to 46 states and the District of Columbia to resolve allegations the company violated the False Claims Act, according to New York's Office of the Attorney General.

The lawsuit against Medtronic alleged the company improperly induced physicians to recommend Medtronic devices to treat cardiac rhythmic disease.

The lawsuit was originally filed under the qui tam, or whistle-blower, provision of the False Claims Act.

Medtronic has agreed to pay the settling states a combined $362,362, which will be distributed to those states' Medicaid programs.
