Ex-ICU nurse sentenced to 20 years in prison for assaulting patients

A former Colorado ICU nurse found guilty of filming himself sexually assaulting more than a dozen unconscious patients will spend 20 years in prison, Local12 reported Dec. 10.

Christopher Lambros, 62, pleaded guilty to six counts of felony attempted sexual assault. A coworker reported Mr. Lambros to the police after allegedly witnessing him taking photos of an unconscious patient's genitalia. He was arrested and law enforcement officers recovered 4 terabytes of sexually explicit data from Mr. Lambros' devices dating to 2016.

Mr. Lambros was immediately fired from St. Mary's Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colo., following his arrest. The hospital was then part of the SCL Health network, which has since merged with Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare.

"Learning the charges that Christopher Lambros has pleaded guilty to is disheartening," a hospital spokesperson told Becker's. "At St. Mary's Medical Center, our commitment to the safety of patients, visitors and caregivers is unwavering and continues to be our highest priority. We are committed to adhering to legal protocols and ensuring that our actions do not influence or interfere with the judicial process."

Two women who police said were sexually assaulted by Mr. Lambros and filmed while unconscious in the intensive care unit sued the Colorado hospital in December 2022.
