Life sciences company to add 551 jobs in North Carolina

Avadim Technologies — a life sciences company — is planning a major expansion of its operations in Buncombe County, N.C., reports Asheville Citizen-Times.

As part of the expansion, Asheville, N.C.-based Avadim said it will build a new 100,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Black Mountain, N.C., to meet rapid growth and demand of its technology.

The expansion is expected to bring 551 jobs to Buncombe County, including sales and marketing personnel, customer service representatives and information technology specialists.

"As a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, it was important to me that the expansion of our business remain in the county," said Stephen Woody, Avadim’s chairman and CEO, in a statement. “In addition to contributing to the health and well-being of individuals nationwide, by addressing the gaps in global health including infection, neuromuscular disorders and wound care, this expansion will also contribute to the growth of our economy by continuing to cultivate a vibrant life sciences sector that will spurs jobs and further business growth in Western North Carolina."

Avadim, founded nearly a decade ago, develops pathogenesis-based therapies that address disease processes, according to the company. The company's new facility could open as early as 2018.
