Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, Ky., is seeking a partner for a merger or sale, according to an Adair Progress report.
The hospital's board approved the move in a meeting last week, following a recommendation by Spectrum Health Partners, which has been managing the hospital since earlier this year.
The struggling hospital has lost $11.75 million over the last 11 years and soon faces a $1.1 million annual debt payment. It also owes Medicare more than $2 million for overpayments to its rural health clinics, according to the report.
