NJ's Underwood-Memorial Health, South Jersey Healthcare to Merge

Underwood-Memorial Health Systems, based in Woodbury, N.J., and South Jersey Healthcare in Vineland, N.J., have signed a definitive agreement to merge, according to a joint news release.

The organizations expect to receive state and federal approval for the merger this spring. They have been negotiating the merger since last May.

South Jersey includes a staff of more than 600 physicians and the flagship SJH Regional Medical Center, a 262-bed facility in Vineland, along with other healthcare facilities. Underwood Memorial is anchored by Underwood-Memorial Hospital, a 305-bed non-profit facility in Woodbury. The hospital includes a medical staff of roughly 400 physicians.
