Capella, RegionalCare merge into $1.7B company

Brentwood, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners and Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare have merged to create a combined company with 18 hospital campuses in 12 states.

The new company, RCCH HealthCare Partners, has more than 13,000 employees, 2,000 affiliated physicians and $1.7 billion in revenues.

Michael Wiechart, former board vice chair, president and CEO of Capella, will serve as president and CEO of the combined company. He will also serve on RCCH Health Partners' board of directors.

"We look forward to building on the legacy of care our hospitals have provided in great communities throughout the country," said Mr. Wiechart. "With this merger, we've created an outstanding new company with increased resources to improve the health and well-being of communities we serve now as well as future new partners."

The companies first announced plans to merge in late March.
