University of Florida Launches Executive Education Program on Physician Practice Management and Organizational Integration

The University of Florida in Gainesville has launched an executive education program for hospital, physician practice and physician leaders on physician practice management and organizational integration.

The program — offered through the University’s renowned Leadership Development Institute — aims to provide healthcare professionals with additional resources and technical insights to help them better understand the complexities behind the migration toward integrated healthcare delivery systems.

"As a result of healthcare reform, the U.S. healthcare delivery system is rapidly moving from a fragmented system to one of greater efficiency and quality. Many administrators of hospitals and practices, as well as physicians, can benefit from educational tools that will help in this evolving arena," says Les Jebson, a founder and faculty member in the program and current administrator with the University of Florida Academic Health Center.

The program, which launches on Jan. 11, features unique ‘a la carte’ and group format modules, utilizing UF’s latest online learning architecture. Courses offered in the program include:

•    Organizational culture and integrational dynamics
•    Employee engagement and human resources
•    Legal and regulatory considerations of physician practices
•    Financial and productivity management of physician practices
•    Organizational strategic planning and decision intelligence infrastructure development
•    Accountable care organization systems - Organizational positioning and planning

Participants in the program can enroll in a single course or complete a series of four core courses to receive a professional certificate. Courses are assessed pass/fail, and participants have up to six months to complete each self-paced course, with the guidance of instructors who are working leaders in the healthcare industry.

The cost for each course is $1,200. According to Mr. Jebson, the pricing mirrors that of a 2-3 days symposium, but the content delivered is more in-depth and is comprised of case studies and the latest articles and technical tools.
