St. Vincent's Medical Center in Connecticut Launches New PHO

St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn., has launched a new physician hospital organization along with participating regional physicians.

Physicians own 50 percent of the PHO, known as St. Vincent's Health Partners, while the medical center owns the remaining share. The governing board for the PHO is also a 50-50 split between the medical center and physician owners. So far, 150 physicians have joined the PHO.

The PHO's goal is to "allow participating primary care and specialist physicians to perform well under new reimbursement models that will reward clinical integration and improved quality of care," according to a news release.
