Providence to scoop up 6 physicians after Adventist Washington hospital closes

Providence Medical Group Walla Walla in Washington, a family physician practice belonging to Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services, will acquire six physicians and three registered nurse practitioners once Walla Walla (Wash.) General Hospital closes July 24.

Providence officials are also reportedly "continuing conversations with several more" health practioners to transition to the medical group once the Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health hospital closes.

The six providers will begin seeing patients as Providence employees in September, officials said.

Adventist Health previously negotiated an agreement to transfer Walla Walla General Hospital services to Providence, but officials halted the transfer June 19 after "unexpected regulatory challenges [arose,] which could linger for an undetermined duration of time and could ultimately prohibit the anticipated transfer of membership."
