Memphis' Methodist Healthcare, West Clinic Partner for Cancer Service Line

Memphis-based Methodist Healthcare has formed a partnership with The West Clinic to create a comprehensive and integrated cancer service line, according to a joint news release.

The West Clinic has eight locations across the region with 33 specialists and 400 employees. Approximately 110 of West Clinic's direct patient care employees will become associates of Methodist. Physicians and administrative staff will remain with the West Clinic.

Additionally, the systems said the University of Tennessee Health Science Center also plans to move its oncology fellowship program to The West Clinic.

"It is important to note that this is not a sale of The West Clinic," Erich Mounce, CEO of West Clinic, said in the release. "The West Clinic and its physicians will remain independent and autonomous. This is a novel partnership that will build upon the strengths of both Methodist Healthcare and The West Clinic to transform the way cancer care is provided in the Mid-South."
