Bon Secours Richmond to expand primary care

Bon Secours Richmond (Va.) Health System, part of the Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System, has plans to expand its primary care services in the greater Richmond area, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The system recently opened a new primary care office in Chester, Va., with 10 patient rooms and has plans to expand as the population grows in the area over the next few years, according to the report.

Earlier this year, the system opened a primary care location in the Richmond neighborhood Shockoe Bottom, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

"It's a new idea for Bon Secours," Vicki Latham-Solomon, MD, the physician who staffs the Shockoe Bottom location, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "The interest was to try to put a practice in an area of town where there isn't currently a lot of medical care or options. We know that where the practice is located there are a lot of businesses, a lot of hotels. There are restaurants and a lot of apartments and lofts. We're reaching a part of the Richmond community that really hasn’t had this type of an option."
