Baylor pediatricians to provide online consult to physicians

Pediatricians with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston will share their clinical expertise with their peers via Medscape Consult, a peer-to-peer digital platform designed to facilitate the sharing of clinical observations and discoveries.

Through the platform, Baylor's pediatric experts will publish insights and answer questions regarding clinical concerns related to pediatric care, including concerns regarding emerging infectious diseases known to cause significant harm in children such as the Zika virus.

"Physicians everywhere are confronting a host of new clinical challenges in a rapidly changing environment. They need to connect with colleagues and get advice and answers quickly," said Ricardo Quiñonez, MD, associate professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and section head and service chief of pediatric hospital medicine at Houston's Texas Children's Hospital. Dr. Quiñonez will oversee the team of pediatric experts participating in the collaboration with Medscape Consult.

"At Baylor and Texas Children's, we have the perspective of seeing some of the most difficult pediatric cases from around the world. Through our Medscape Consult partnership, we can offer our colleagues the knowledge and insights gained through that experience," said Dr. Quiñonez.
