Baptist Health, American Family Care announce partnership

Birmingham, Ala.-based Baptist Health and American Family Care, an urgent and family care company also based in Birmingham, announced that they will partner to provide primary and urgent care services throughout Central Alabama.

Five PriMeds — urgent care clinics owned by Baptist Health throughout Montgomery, Wetumpka and Prattville — and the three AFC-operated family care clinics in the Montgomery and Prattville areas will be co-branded as AFC PriMed as a result of the partnership.

The community-focused partnership is expected to improve patient outcomes and encourage a closer coordination of care among partners while simultaneously providing immediate expansion of convenient and accessible clinics in other underserved areas of Central Alabama.

"As the nation's healthcare model continues to rapidly change and the number of insured patients without a primary care physician increases, AFC and Baptist Health will grow together to meet that need and provide patients with easily accessible primary care, urgent care, family care and occupational medicine, " D. Bruce Irwin, MD, owner and founder of American Family Care, said in a release.
