Pennsylvania's Community Medical Center Names New CEO

Community Medical Center in Scranton, Penn., has named Robert Steigmeyer as its new CEO, according to a Citizen's Voice report.

Mr. Steigmeyer was previously senior vice president of operations and finance for the 300-bed Northwest Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle. He switched his focus from clinical medicine to healthcare administration in college and earned his MBA and MHA degrees from St. Louis University.

Community Medical Center has faced two failed merger attempts in the past four years, as well as two years of financial losses, according to the report. Mr. Steigmeyer replaces John Nilsson, who served as interim CEO since 2006.
