15 Recent Hospital Executive Moves

Here are 15 executive moves that took place within the last week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Rebecca Mathis has been named vice president and CFO of Adventist Hinsdale (Ill.) Hospital. Ms. Mathis’ position was effective Jan. 3. Ms. Mathis has served as Adventist Midwest Health’s regional controller since 2008.

2. Grant Davies has been named CEO of three hospitals within the Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health system. He will oversee Sutter Medical Center in Santa Rosa, Calif., along with Sutter Health’s Novato Community Hospital and Lakeside Hospital, both in Lakeport, Calif.

3. Rex "Rusty" Tungate, the long-time CEO of Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, Ky., resigned from his position yesterday following a dispute with the hospital's board of trustees.

4. Denver-based HCA-HealthONE has named George Bussey, MD, as CMO for its continental division. Dr. Bussey will lead clinical and quality initiatives across HealthONE hospitals in Denver and HCA hospitals in Oklahoma City, Edmond, Okla., and Wichita, Kan. Dr. Bussey began his new role Jan. 24.

5. Troy Thibodeaux has been named COO of Covenant Health System in Lubbock, Texas. Most recently, Mr. Thibodeaux served as executive vice president and COO for Good Shepherd Health System in Longview, Texas. He will begin his duties with Covenant in March.

6. Ken Metteauer has been named CFO of Parkridge East Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn. Mr. Metteauer is expected to begin his new position on Feb. 1. He has been with Parkridge Health System, which includes three hospital campuses, since 2004. Most recently, he was the system's assistant vice president of finance.

7.  Richard Henley, interim CEO of New Milford (Conn.) Hospital is stepping down. Mr. Henley held the interim CEO position since Sept. 2009. He saw New Milford through a formal affiliation with Danbury (Conn.) Health Systems, which is now known as Western Connecticut Healthcare.

8. ProHealth Care, based in Waukesha, Wisc., has announced a reorganization of its senior executive leadership. Ed Olson, president and CEO of Waukesha (Wis.) Memorial Hospital will leave his position to become chief external affairs officer for the system. John Robertstad, CEO and president of Oconomowoc (Wis.) Memorial Hospital, will assume Mr. Olson's former responsibilities in an expanded role of both branches as president of ProHealth Care's Hospital Division. Kathy Scott will assume the newly created position of chief innovation officer.

9. Michael F. Stapleton has been named executive vice president of Thompson Health and COO of F.F. Thompson Hospital, both in Canandaigua, N.Y. Mr. Stapleton is currently serving as CEO of Lakeside Health System in Brockport, N.Y. His position at Thompson is effective March 28.

10. Gary M. Broadwater has been appointed CFO of the McCready Foundation, which includes McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield, Md.

11. Earl Tamar has been appointed CEO of Galesburg (Ill.) Cottage Hospital. Most recently, Mr. Tamar served as a management consultant at Battle Creek (Mich.) Health System.

12. Sharon O'Keefe, the current president of Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., has been named president of University of Chicago Medical Center. Ms. O'Keefe's position is effective Feb. 23.

13. Andrew Wilson, president and CEO of St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, N.D., voluntarily resigned yesterday to pursue other business opportunities. Gary Miller, hospital's senior vice president and CFO, has been named interim president and CEO as the board determines how the position will be filled on a permanent basis.

14. Jason Fahrlander has been named CEO of Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. Mr. Farhlander was previously the hospital's COO. His new position went into effect Jan. 24.

15. Luke Gregory has been named permanent CEO of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Gregory's position is effective immediately since he has been serving as interim CEO of the 238-bed hospital since Sept. 2010.
