CEO of Connecticut's Danbury Hospital Resigns After 22 Years on the Job

Danbury Hospital CEO Frank Kelly will leave his position on Thursday after 33 years at the hospital.

During his tenure, Danbury Hospital, a 371-bed facility in Danbury, Conn., has added a cancer center, an ambulatory surgery center, a revamped emergency room and several other state-of-the-art facilities. The hospital has maintained a steady string of budget surpluses even during tough economic times, and for the past six years, has ranked in the top five percent of hospitals in the United States.

Mr. Kelly has worked at Danbury since 1977, when he started in an administrative role. He moved through several more administrative positions before becoming president and CEO in 1988.

Mr. Kelly will be succeeded by John Murphy, MD, the hospital's current vice president.
