Longtime Kadlec Health System CEO to retire in 2016: 4 things to know

Rand Wortman, president and CEO of Richland, Wash.-based Kadlec Health System, is planning to retire in May 2016, according to a Tri-City Herald report.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Wortman and his retirement.

1. Mr. Wortman has been president and CEO since 2000.

2. During his tenure, Kadlec's employee ranks have grown from 700 to about 3,200, and the health system has grown from 153 licensed beds to 270, according to the report. Kadlec also has added numerous services, from open heart surgery to electrophysiology cardiology, and built several more facilities, including a new freestanding emergency department in Kennewick, Wash., a new 60,000-square-foot medical office building at the hospital's main Richland campus and the healthplex nearby. In addition, the six-story River Pavilion at the hospital, a patient tower that opened in 2008, is expanding, and Kadlec also is adding a parking garage.

3. Mr. Wortman has led Kadlec through its affiliation with Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services, a large nonprofit health network that operates in five states. Mr. Wortman now has a regional position with Providence, where he is responsible for developing Kadlec as a regional referral center and for other Providence facilities and relationships in Southeast Washington, according to the report.

4. Lane Savitch has moved into the role of president and CEO of Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
