Dr. Paula Milone-Nuzzo is president of Massachusetts General's Institute of Health Professions: 5 takeaways

Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital appointed Paula Milone-Nuzzo, PhD, RN, president of the MGH Institute of Health Professions, according to a Charlestown Patriot-Bridge report.

Here are five takeaways:

1. The MGH Institute of Health Professions is an independent graduate school, with a student population of more than 1,600. It is the only degree-granting affiliate of Partners HealthCare, also based in Boston.

2. Dr. Milone-Nuzzo will also hold the position of John Hilton Knowles Professor at the graduate school.

3. Previously, she served as dean of the College of Nursing at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, where she was also a professor.

4. She came to Penn State from the Yale University School of Nursing in Orange, Conn., where she served as associate dean for academic affairs and professor of nursing management and policy.

5. She is a fellow, treasurer and board member of the American Academy of Nursing.
