Dartmouth-Hitchcock names Lahey Hospital CEO Dr. Joanne Conroy to top position

Joanne M. Conroy, MD, will serve as the new president and CEO of Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health. She succeeds James Weinstein, DO, who will retire at the end of his term in June 2017.

Dr. Conroy will assume her new roles on Aug. 7. From July 1 through Aug. 6, Edward Merrens, MD, chief clinical officer, and Stephen J. LeBlanc, chief administrative officer, will serve as co-interim CEO and president.

Dr. Conroy currently serve as CEO of Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Mass., the flagship facility for the Lahey Health System. She previously held leadership roles at Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System and the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Dr. Conroy, an anesthesiologist, is a diplomate with the American Academy of Pain Management. She has authored numerous abstracts and book chapters.

"[Dr. Conroy] is a dynamic leader who will carry forward the themes of population health and value-based care in new payment models, while continuing to create seamless integration across our system," said Dr. Weinstein in a statement.
