Columbus Regional Healthcare's Medical Center CEO Lance Duke Resigns

Lance Duke has announced his resignation as president and CEO of Columbus (Ga.) Regional Healthcare System's flagship hospital, The Medical Center, according to a Ledger-Enquirer report.

Mr. Duke has served Columbus Regional for nearly 20 years. He was in the running for the CEO position of the entire health system, but another candidate was hired. The chairman of the board Gene Demonet told the Ledger-Enquirer that Mr. Duke may have decided to move on after an "obvious avenue for succession" within Columbus Regional closed.

Mr. Duke joined Columbus Regional as president and CEO of Phenix Regional Hospital in Phenix City, Ala., in 1993. He began serving as president and CEO of The Medical Center in 1995.

Columbus Regional plans to begin an immediate search for Mr. Duke's replacement, according to the report. Newly appointed Columbus Regional CEO Chuck Stark will move his office to The Medical Center and oversee day-to-day duties of the facilities until a successor is found.
