Children's Hospital Los Angeles hires Dr. Robert Shaddy as pediatrician-in-chief

Children's Hospital Los Angeles tapped Robert E. Shaddy, MD, to serve as pediatrician-in-chief and senior vice president of academic affairs, effective June 1. He will also serve as chair of the pediatrics department at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Dr. Shaddy most recently served as the vice chair of the pediatrics department at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He concurrently served as chief of the cardiology division and the Jennifer Terker Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

A pediatric cardiologist by training, Dr. Shaddy has authored or co-authored 21 book chapters for textbooks as well as six books on cardiology. He is a member of the American Heart Association, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and Society for Pediatric Research.

In his new roles, Dr. Shaddy will provide oversight for pediatric faculty at CHLA and LAC+USC Medical Center campuses, faculty appointments as well as educational and research activities.
