The American Medical Association selected Brian D. Vandenberg, JD, to serve as senior vice president and general counsel.
Mr. Vandenberg most recently served as general counsel for Mountain View, Calif.-based Livongo Health, a consumer digital health-focused company. He previously served as general counsel roles for a number of companies, including Chicago-based Allscripts Healthcare Solutions.
Mr. Vandenberg succeeds Jon Ekdahl, who is retiring after nearly 16 years with the AMA.
"The AMA has for generations been a guiding voice in medicine and public health," Mr. Vandenberg said in a statement. "I am thrilled to join the team at a historic time of change for America's health care system. I look forward to working with the AMA's senior leadership and staff, as well as our physician members, to help shape and ensure a better health care system for patients, physicians and the nation."
