19 Hospital and Health System Executive Moves

The following hospital executive moves occurred within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Mont., announced the resignation of president and CEO John Solheim.

2. Saint Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta named Scott Schmidly as CEO.

3. Catholic Health Services of Long Island in Rockville Centre, N.Y., named Lawrence McManus as its new president and CEO.

4. El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif., announced the appointment of Michael King, FHFMA, as CFO.

5. CEO of Tewksbury (Mass.) Hospital Sandra Akers announced she is leaving her duties to serve as bureau director for the public health hospitals, under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

6. Joe Vessey, CFO of Whidbey General Hospital in Coupeville, Wash., announced his resignation.

7. Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, announced Bill Bruce, MBA, FACHE, as CEO.

8. Rochelle (Ill.) Community Hospital named Mark Batty as CEO.

9. Windham Hospital in Willimantic, Conn., announced Stephen Larcen, PhD, as CEO.

10. Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastopol, Calif., hired Rick Reed as interim CEO.

11. Sterling (Colo.) Regional MedCenter, operated by Banner Health, announced CEO Michelle Joy is leaving to serve as an associate administrator for North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo., another hospital operated by Banner.

12. UMass Memorial Health Care in Worchester, Mass., announced John O'Brien, president and CEO, will retire in January 2013.

13. HCA in Nashville, Tenn., announced the retirement of Jeff Dorsey, president of the company's continental division, which includes the Denver-based HealthONE system.

14. Tenet Healthcare in Dallas announced CFO Biggs Porter is leaving to serve as CFO of Fluor Corp., an engineering and construction company.

15. David Yarbrough is no longer the CEO of Biggs Gridley (Calif.) Memorial Hospital.

16. Universal Health Services in King of Prussia, Pa., announced Barry Wolfman as CEO and managing director of George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

17. Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, announced Michael Hendrix, FHFMA, as CFO.

18. Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, La., announced Sandy Morein as COO.

19. President and CEO of Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, N.Y., Rob Mackenzie, MD, announced his retirement, effective at the end of 2012.
