CFO Paul Pernice: Bringing Beebe Medical Center Back
With his Six Sigma Black Belt, Beebe Medical Center CFO Paul Pernice is all about improving cost-efficiency. Perhaps his skills came into play for the Lewes, Del.-based hospital to net a combined 0.28 percent bonus on its Medicare payments from CMS' Value-Based Purchasing Program and Readmissions Reduction Program.
The 210-bed hospital also recently received an upgraded "Baa3" rating from Moody's Investors Services on $53.9 million in bonds, up from "Ba3."
Mr. Pernice, a certified public accountant, arrived at Beebe last February, bringing with him more than 25 years of healthcare financial experience at institutions such as Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton in Hamilton Township, N.J. He holds an MBA from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
