CEO Ralph Muller: Delivering the Promise of Advanced Care at University of Pennsylvania Health System
Mr. Muller has served in academic healthcare administration for 37 years. His extensive familiarity with the complex challenges facing urban-based academic health centers guides his successful leadership of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. U.S. News & World Report and Thomson Reuters consistently rank the health system's hospitals among the best in the nation.
Mr. Muller attributes the success of the health system to its focus and employees. Mr. Muller is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academics and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Mr. Muller began his career in academic medicine in 1985 when he was named vice president of the University of Chicago's Hospitals and deputy dean of biological sciences. In 1986, he was named president and CEO of the University of Chicago Hospitals & Health System. He served in that role for 15 years.
