Michael V. Sack, FACHE, has led Hallmark Health System, a Medford, Mass.-based system that includes Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, for more than 10 years.
Prior to joining HHS, Mr. Sack was president and CEO of Affinity Health Alliance and Union Hospital in Maryland.
Under Mr. Sack's leadership, HHS has received several recognitions of excellence. For instance, it has been named as a "Best Place to Work" by the Boston Business Journal for 10 years running, and was named as a "Most Wired" hospital for 2012, among many other awards.
In addition to his role leading HHS, Mr. Sack also helps guide healthcare in Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Hospital Association, an organization he has been involved with since 2005. He was named chair-elect of MHA in 2013 and will assume the role as chair in June. "Mike is a thoughtful and highly regarded healthcare leader, with extensive experience and a collaborative approach that is vital in today's rapidly changing healthcare environment," said Lynn Nicholas, president and CEO of MHA, in a news release. "Mike's can-do attitude and deep knowledge of both Massachusetts and national hospital issues, supported by his service as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, will serve him well."
Mr. Sack is also a member of the American Hospital Association's Metropolitan Governing Council and has served as president of the board of directors for the Massachusetts Council of Community Hospitals.
Mr. Sack earned a master's degree in public health from the University of Missouri School of Medicine and School of Business in Columbia.
