CEO Deborah Carey Johnson: Climbing the Ladder at Eastern Maine Medical Center
Ms. Johnson started working at EMMC in 1974 as a staff nurse in critical care, progressing through administrative roles until she became president.
During her time at the helm, Ms. Johnson has overseen the implementation of information technology and the development of centers of excellence for several service lines. In part because of her hard work, EMMC has been nationally recognized for its work on information technology innovation, clinical quality initiatives and patient service.
In addition to her duties at EMMC, Ms. Johnson also serves as a senior vice president of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, EMMC's parent organization. She participates in system-wide strategic planning and organizational development in that role.
