UPMC, Caradigm Develop Tablet-Based Platform to Improve Physician Workflow, Decision-Making

Pittsburgh-based UPMC has partnered with analytics solutions provider Caradigm to develop a tablet-based platform that allows physicians to switch between UPMC's electronic health record system and other apps with patient information without re-searching for a particular patient.

By being able to maintain patient context while moving between apps, a physician is allowed easier access to patient-centric information that will support evidence-based decision-making. The platform is currently being tested by UPMC cardiologists.

"Our clinicians demand and deserve apps that enhance patient care, rather than detract from it," said Rebecca Kaul, president of UPMC's Technology Development Center, in a news release.
