The Identity Theft Resource Center found that more than 6 million records have been exposed since the onset of 2016. Many of those records are from data breaches that initially occurred years ago, according to CNBC.
The consumers affected by the following 10 internet hacks still have their information exposed — even though some of the breaches took place years ago.
1. MySpace (360 million affected) — data breach likely took place before 2013
2. LinkedIn (117 million affected) — data breach took place in 2012
3. Tumblr (65 million affected) — data breach took place in 2013
4. Fling.com (41 million affected) — data breach likely took place before Ashley Madison hack
5. 21st Century Oncology (2.2 million affected) — data breach took place in 2015
6. Verizon Enterprise Solutions (1.5 million affected) — data breach took place in March
7. Internal Revenue Service (724,000 affected) — data breach took place in 2015
8. University of Central Florida (63,000 affected) — data breach took place in January
9. FDIC (44,000 affected) — data breach took place in February
10. Wendy's (unknown amount of people, but at least 300 locations affected) — data breach took place in 2015
