The most effective resource for health IT hiring

IT recruiters and executive search firms are the most effective resource for hospitals and health systems looking to add to their IT staffs, according to a recent HIMSS Analytics survey.

Just over half (52 percent) of respondents reported using executive search firms or IT recruiters. More popular methods of new staff recruitment include employee referrals (66 percent), public job boards (62 percent) and professional association job boards (56 percent).

However, when asked to rate the effectiveness of each method, recruiters and search firms came out on top, with an average success rating of 5.45 out of 7. Employee referrals were considered the second-most effective with a success rating of 5.34, followed by developing relationships with local universities at 4.99 and social media at 4.49.

Survey results are based on responses from 200 IT executives.
