ONC Seeks Comments Regarding Digital Certificates

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT is seeking public comments regarding healthcare providers' experience with digital certificates, according to a Healthcare IT News report.

By June 5, the ONC hopes to hear comments on how providers are obtaining and managing digital certificates that are cross-certified with the Federal Bridge, an infrastructure created by the government to assess authentication, privacy and security as health information is being electronically exchanged, according to the news report.

In addition, the ONC would like to know whether there is enough market competition to obtain fair pricing for digital certification and the impact of health information exchanges on providing and maintaining digital certificates.
