ONC, Health 2.0 Challenge Developers to Create App With popHealth Tool

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and Health 2.0 have launched a contest for developers to use the popHealth tool to create an app that would allow healthcare providers to access more information about their patient populations, according to a Government Health IT report.

Under the challenge, developers will create applications using popHealth's open-source framework, existing functionality, standards and sample datasets to help providers improve patient safety, engagement with patients and disparities in care. Currently, popHealth can automate the calculation and reporting of the ambulatory care clinical quality measures in stage one of meaningful use and aggregate data from multiple sites, according to the report.
