- Christopher Rehm, MD, was named the first chief medical informatics officer for Brentwood, Tenn.-based system LifePoint Health.
- Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health named Thomas August the system's CISO.
- G. Daniel Martich, MD, Pittsburgh-based UPMC's CMIO, left his position to join West Virginia United Health System in Morgantown as system CMO.
- Cincinnati-based TriHealth appointed John Ward CIO.
- James Carder, former director of security informatics at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, left Mayo to join Boulder, Colo.-based LogRhythm as its CISO.
- President Barack Obama's administration nominated Karen DeSalvo, MD, national coordinator for health IT, to become assistant secretary for health at HHS.
- Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health named Jon Russell senior vice president and CIO.
- Chad Eckes, vice president and CIO of Winston Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, was named executive vice president and CFO of the hospital.
- New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System in New York City named Michael Nochomovitz, MD, senior vice president and chief clinical integration and network development officer.
- Cincinnati-based Mercy Health promoted Imran Andrabi, MD, to the newly created position of president and CEO/chief network integration officer of Mercy Health-Toledo (Ohio).
- Richard "Dick" Daniels was named executive vice president and CIO of Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente.
- Allentown, Pa.-based Coordinated Health appointed Greg Flanagan CIO.
- Cambridge (Mass.) Health Alliance selected Steve Carter as senior vice president of IT and CIO.
- Dan Drawbaugh, MBA, former CIO of Pittsburgh-based UPMC, was named CEO of The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute, both located in Vail, Colo.
- Andretta Reed was named vice president of health information management operations and coding at Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare.
- Capella Healthcare also named Scott Flesicher director of financial IT applications.
- Jake Dorst, CIO of Tahoe Forest Hospital District in Truckee, Calif., was named interim CEO. He will retain his CIO duties while serving in this new position.
- Jim Wesley, CIO of John Muir Health, became a consultant to John Muir Health as senior vice president of data and analytics.
