Medical files with Social Security numbers found in Texas dumpster

Hundreds of medical files were found in a dumpster at a storage facility in Texas, prompting a state investigation, according to a KRGV report.

A woman was emptying out a storage unit at the McAllen, Texas-based storage facility when she found the files, according to the report.

The medical files include medical records and employee files from 2002 to 2011, and contain information such as Social Security numbers and Medicaid and Medicare numbers, according to the report.

The files appear to be records from Xtra Mile Ambulance Service Company, which is no longer in business, according to the report.
