Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals to Pay Back $3.4M to Providers After Computer Glitch

Tags: DHH | Louisiana | reimbursement error

A Louisiana health agency unintentionally deducted approximately $3.4 million from reimbursements to physicians for care provided to the poor through the federal Medicaid program, according to a news report by the Advocate Capitol News Bureau.

The Department of Health and Hospitals is blaming computer glitches for the reimbursement error. A DHH spokesperson said affected healthcare providers should see the reimbursement appear in their bank accounts by today, according to the report.

The reimbursement error follows another incident that took place last year when DDH overpaid Medicaid providers $11.6 million, which the health agency also blamed on computer malfunctions.
