With the help of Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Great Lakes Health Connect, St. Joseph, Mich.-based Lakeland Health is querying patient immunization records directly from its EHR.
The immunization records are held in the Michigan Care Improvement Registry. Providers import immunization information into the MCIR, from which authorized personnel — such as providers and schools — can then access the database.
For numerous years, Great Lakes Health Connect has been assisting its clients transport immunization records to the MCIR. Now, Great Lakes Health Connect has expanded this program to allow its participating providers in Michigan to do exactly what Lakeland Health is doing: directly query MCIR directly from their EHR.
