The Indiana Health Information Exchange and Franciscan Alliance, based in Indianapolis, have partnered to improve interoperability. Franciscan Alliance physicians are now able to access the IHIE with a single click from their Epic EHR.
Through the partnership, the IHIE's CareWeb application and its clinical data have been integrated into Franciscan Alliance's Epic EHR system.
"We were able to complete this implementation in under eight weeks, providing an efficient solution to meet the interoperability needs of our customer and improve the usability of an important resource available to physicians," said John Kansky, president and CEO of IHIE.
Franciscan Alliance is a charter member of the IHIE. The health system has 13 hospitals in Indiana and Illinois. The IHIE connects more than 100 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community clinics and other healthcare providers.
